Description

Readers have followed New York Times bestselling author Jen Lancaster through job loss, sucky city living, weight loss attempts, and 1980s nostalgia. Now, in this bitter and witty memoir, Jen chronicles her efforts to achieve cultural enlightenment, with some hilarious missteps and genuine moments of inspiration along the way.

Jen uses any means necessary on her quest to better herself: reading canonical literature, viewing classic films, attending the opera, researching artisan cheeses, and even enrolling in etiquette classes to improve her social graces.

In Jen’s corner is a crack team of experts, including Page Six socialites, gourmet chefs, an opera aficionado, and a master sommelier. She may discover that well-regarded, high-priced stinky cheese tastes exactly as bad as it smells, and that her love for Kraft American Singles is forever. But one thing’s for certain: Eliza Doolittle’s got nothing on Jen Lancaster—and failure is an option.

I haven't yet finished the book, but I too enjoy Jen Lancaster's use of footnotes in her writing... If you press the footnote number in the text, you jump to the footnote - if you press the number again in the footnote section, you jump back the page. It was a little frustrating at first before I realized that, but I nearly didn't buy due to the other poster saying they were inaccessible. I didn't want anyone to miss out on Jen's new tome due to being an iBook newbie, like me! ...so far, I am enjoying it a great deal! Thanks Jen, keep up the good work!

Not often do you read a book and say "I want to be her". Love it! I want Jen, Fletch, Stacey, Maisy and the Thunderbirds to come over for dinner. I have read all her books and am now taking suggestions on future books from her. Jen thank you again for saying everything I am thinking.

Hilarious per usual but was a little disappointed I couldn't read the footnotes. Those are usually the best part!
