Description

Detective John Stone of the NYPD has the best arrest record in the 43rd precinct. But he’s a dinosaur who belongs to another age. Detective Carmen Dehan has such a bad attitude that nobody at the precinct can stomach her. Captain Jennifer Cuevas wants them both out of the way and thinks they make a perfect pair. So she gives them the Cold Cases file – the cases nobody gives a damn about.

She has no idea just how hot a cold case can get.

Ten years back Nelson Hernandez and his four cousins were playing poker in a dive at Hunts Point. Somebody came in, blew them away and beheaded and castrated Nelson, leaving his head and his balls on the table. There was no shortage of suspects, the Jersey Mob, the Triads from Manhattan, or the 43rds own bent cop, Mick Harragan. But nobody was ever charged, and the night of the murder Mick Harragan went missing with Nelson’s wife, Maria.

Now Stone and Dehan plan to find him – whatever the consequences…

Awesome story! Read first of this series. Outstanding throughout the plot. I agree with all the 5 Star previous reviews. Plus, Blake Banner, you have captivated me like Mickey Spillane--and, that sir, is the best praise--of which I have never given before. I will be reading everything you write...in this series and in anything else you write! A new fan. 🐰🐰🐰

Debut NYC police detective Whodunit written with vim, vigor & a nod & a wink. Great characters, perfectly paced with many a twist and turn. A refreshing new addition to the genre.

Fast paced crime thriller. Mysterious and witty. An all around great read.

Masterful job of implicating possible suspects while weaving a complicated cold case into a tale of a dirty cop who got away with it. I was unable to put the book down because I was actively involved in thinking about who I liked for the crime. Characters were well drawn, and I liked the detective pair—two misfits who could respect each other. You can’t help but want the good guys to win.

Computers are only as good as the person entering the information. Stone show non-believers that thinking with your brains and Carmen saw the lite. You will enjoy the trip down Mystery Lane with Stone and Dehan.
