An instant New York Times bestseller! Charlamagne Tha God—the self-proclaimed “Prince of Pissing People Off,” cohost of Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, and “the most important voice in hip-hop”—shares his eight principles for unlocking your God-given privilege.

In Black Privilege, Charlamagne presents his often controversial and always brutally honest insights on how living an authentic life is the quickest path to success. This journey to truth begins in the small town of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and leads to New York and headline-grabbing interviews and insights from celebrities like Kanye West, Kevin Hart, Malcolm Gladwell, Lena Dunham, Jay Z, and Hillary Clinton.

Black Privilege lays out all the great wisdom Charlamagne’s been given from many mentors, and tells the uncensored story of how he turned around his troubled early life by owning his (many) mistakes and refusing to give up on his dreams, even after his controversial opinions got him fired from several on-air jobs. These life-learned principles include:

-There are no losses in life, only lessons
-Give people the credit they deserve for being stupid—starting with yourself
-It’s not the size of the pond but the hustle in the fish
-When you live your truth, no one can use it against you
-We all have privilege, we just need to access it

By combining his own story with bold advice and his signature commitment to honesty no matter the cost, Charlamagne hopes Black Privilege will empower you to live your own truth.

I don’t know much about the author but I was watching a YouTube video of him interviewing Pusha T and I saw the book in the background. I downloaded it to learn more about the author and his thoughts and believes. I had very low expectations to say the least. To my surprise this book greatly exceeded my expectations. Every chapter was a thrill to read and I do feel like a got a much better understanding of why you do what you do and say what you say thanks to your brutal honesty in this book. Thanks again for taking the time to write this and best of luck in all of your future endeavors

More books like this need to be pushed to the forefront of the African-American Culture to help balance out all the Negative Images out there of us behaving like Animals in the Wild! This book was very insightful and shed light on a message that I’ve rarely (if ever) heard before in my life and that is that it is a Privilege To Be Black!
  • Changed My Life

I didn't know what to expect prior to reading this book. But for some reason I was completely drawn to it. I believe in God and I truly pay attention to when he puts signs in front of me, and this book was one of them. Prior to reading this book I was lost, afraid of expressing myself in ways that I knew would set me free; but still skeptical to do so. Reading this book has helped me live my truth, remove myself from a relationship that was dragging me down, appreciate my family more, be way more patient in my journey towards my dream, and truly love myself. I didn't know how much Charlamagne and I shared in common, but I'm glad i read this book. I promise you, no matter where you are in life this book will find you well, & give you peace of mind. Thank you Charlamagne, as I said to you previously, I anticipate part 2. Blessing to you.

Great motivational read coming from a fellow BLACK MALE from a dirt road in a small town in S.C. I can definitely relate to a lot of the situations in this book. Again thank you for being a voice!
